Robotics Workshop at San Jose Public Library – Alviso Branch
Date: July 12, 2025
On July 12, we hosted a full-day robotics workshop at the San Jose Public Library, Alviso Branch. The session was led by Grant H., Richard W., Alex L., and Lexie L., with eleven local students in attendance.
The day began with an introduction to robot building and programming. Students were then divided into three teams to start constructing their robots. Except for one student, all participants were new to robotics, but everyone was enthusiastic about building their first robot. After three hours of focused work, all teams successfully completed their builds.
The workshop concluded with a fun and engaging competition, where the goal was to push a ball into a designated goal area. The three teams competed in six preliminary rounds. The 2nd and 3rd place teams faced off in a semifinal, and the winner then challenged the top-ranked team in the final. In the end, Team Galaxy claimed victory.
Both students and volunteers had a great time. Librarian Justin shared, “I like what I see today—we’ll definitely bring you back next time.” Another librarian, Francis, also expressed appreciation for our initiative and dedication.
